1. Think of a personal goal that you have had for some time – that you have really wanted to achieve!
2. How long have you had this goal?
3. WHat has been your biggest obstacle to date in achieving this goal?
4. What specific action have you taken in the last 24 hours that will have taken you closer to achieving this goal?
5 What is it about this goal that makes you want to achieve it. How will you FEEL when you have achieved this goal?
Now really focus on number 5!
Isn’t that your real goal?
Isn’t that what you REALLY want to achieve?
Your goals are stepping stones to what you really, really want!

Perspective!
In 2 weeks I celebrate my 40th birthday. A BIG PARTY is being organised by my soul mate and husband, full of surprises that I do not know about. I was so excited – family and friends flying in from all around Australia.
I was wishing away every single minute between now and then … I was wishing away ever second – just wanting it to be 2 weeks time so I could be in that moment!
Yesterday – I found out our dear, dear friend has been given 2 weeks to live. 42 years old, young husband and father. The same 2 week time frame!
So – what am I learning?
I change my perspective to realise that no matter what you have to look forward to – every minute is precious, precious, precious.
So – I will live each second. To some … it is their last.
I wanted my 2 weeks to dissapear – Mark wants them to last forever. The same 2 weeks.
Thank you for listening my friends – I just needed an ear. I just needed to be ‘listened’ to. Thanks from me x x x x

Do we REALLY listen – or are we marking time before we get our turn to speak?
In coaching, listening is an art form. A rare quality that does not exist in the real world, yet is present here, and THAT is the reason a client will pay for our time and expertise. We LISTEN. We POWER LISTEN! With the 80 / 20 rule that society offers, it is 80% talking and 20% listening. In coaching it is reversed! We LISTEN!
We listen to what is and is not being said. What is being felt, what is under the surface and what really wants to be said. Then we can set up the correct action. We listen attentivey, we remain silent, we WAIT! We repeat. Reflect and verify these feelings in a a non judgemental way. Keep them on track with moving forward and not behind!
The top 5 things a coach listens for is 1. What they really want? 2. What is holding them back from getting it? What are they prepared to do to get it? What needs to change in order for them to move forward? What will be their accountability to achieve it?
To listen is to truly learn and to listen is to teach!
We WAIT and

Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it! Our perspective is simply a view or a belief we hold, and depending on this perspective, it will determine our thoughts and actions in any given situation! THe great part about this is that we can all change our perspective and this will then change our point of view to reveal new and empowering possibilities.
We must always look for a perspective that EMPOWERS us. For that which DISEMPOWERS us weakens our energy, our thinking, our balance – everything! Our perspecitive on any given situation comes simply from our own set of beliefs. And our beliefs are often overrulled by our actions. Take the exersize that is used in Dale Carnegie training. Participants stand at the start of a session and start to move like a jack hammer. As they are jumping from one side of the room to another they repeat out loud – ACT ENTHUSIASTIC AND YOU’LL BE ENTHUSIASTIC! ACT ENTHUSIASTIC AND YOU’LL BE ENTHUSIASTIC!
Another example of this is to get a group of people to stand up and walk around with shoulders hunched and looking at the ground and mumbling and moaning about the world. How does it feel? How does your perspecive of the experience reflect on thoughts, feelings and attitudes? Now – the same group shifts their perspective, to walk tall, walk straight and look the world right in the eye! Positive – energy – amazing!
Positive energy attracts positive experiences. We think and act with our entire body – and a SHIFT IN PERSPECTIVE can shift a negative or disempowering experience to a self controlled POSITIVE ONE! ACT ENTHUSIASTIC AND YOU’LL BE ENTHUSIASTIC!
So – everytime we personally, or a client describes a situation which has negative or disempowering results – we can start to ask the powerful questions to RE-FRAME their current perspective to shift this to an EMPOWERING experience.
PQ – How is might you viewed this situation, to attract a different feeling or outcome? Tell me another way you could have looked at that situation? What did thinking that way cost you? How do you know that to be true?
To me – Re-framing is the act of suggestion that allows your client to re-think about the possibilities of a different belief – and this different belief acts in a much more EMPOWERING way.
Forgiveness is simply a shift in perspective. Which feeling EMPOWERS ME?
Accepting and beginning to see that your current perspecitve is not serving you – gives you the ability to then accept, surrender and change it. Shifting persective is EMPOWERING! SQ What perspective would empower me and gives me energy. How else could I look at this? WHat would be a more empowering way to look at this.
When someone asks you a question for your opinion – answer ‘What do you think?’ Remember a coach sit’s it the passenger seat while the client drives the bus!
Put things into perspective – create your own perspective – change your perspective.
Till next time x
